CoreDial Calls on Oracle to Bolster IP Network Quality and Reliability

Wed, 2019-04-10 07:00
Press Release
CoreDial Calls on Oracle to Bolster IP Network Quality and Reliability Oracle Empowers Cloud Communication Leader to Seamlessly Migrate Between Platforms and Improve Network Troubleshooting

Redwood Shores, Calif.—Apr 10, 2019

CoreDial, LLC, a leading provider of cloud communications and UCaaS services, has selected Oracle Communications to help the company deliver high-quality, reliable services. Today, more than 800 channel partners rely on CoreDial to deliver services to 26,000 businesses in the United States.

“At CoreDial our number one priority is serving our partners and providing them unparalleled services that, combined with our channel optimized platform, business model, and exceptional people, enable them to deliver the best communications networks to their customers,” said Alan Rihm, chief executive officer, CoreDial. “Oracle plays a key role in helping us meet this objective and these new solutions have already greatly improved the quality, flexibility, reliability and uptime of services on our network, resulting in more consistent uptime for our partners and their customers.”

Leveraging Oracle Communications Session Border Controller (SBC), Subscriber-Aware Load Balancer and Operations Monitor, CoreDial will be able to improve real-time communications services across Internet Protocol (IP) network borders and provide interoperability between multiple private branch exchanges as they migrate across platforms.

“In an increasingly competitive market, networks that will power future generation IP services must deliver superior performance, flexibility and security,” said Doug Suriano, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Communications. “Our technology empowers CoreDial for future growth, easily scaling to meet their business needs.”

Enhancing Services with a Modern, Responsive Communications Network

CoreDial selected Oracle SBC to leverage the offering’s inherent abilities to protect and defend CoreDial’s network and services against a wide breadth of security threats. For example, the ability to deny access to requests that reach abusive levels allows CoreDial to prevent its customers’ services from being interrupted by bad actors.  Oracle SBC has also already improved critical service provider requirements for CoreDial, including interoperability, reliability and quality, regulatory compliance, and cost optimization.

Augmenting Oracle SBC with Oracle’s Subscriber-Aware Load Balancer, CoreDial gains linear, non-disruptive scaling of up to 10 million subscribers from a single address. The solution creates a truly geo-redundant VoIP network as well. For example, in the case of a catastrophic event, CoreDial’s Philadelphia or Phoenix data centers can assume responsibilities for the network.

In addition, Oracle Communications Operations Monitor has helped CoreDial to increase visibility into their network traffic (including non-Oracle SIP devices) and to accelerate troubleshooting. Oracle’s unique, end-to-end session correlation and real-time analysis capabilities enable the CoreDial IT team to rapidly detect, isolate, and resolve problems anywhere in multivendor VoIP and UC networks.

Butler Students Tap Oracle Cloud to Make Responsible Financial Aid Choices

Wed, 2019-04-10 07:00
Press Release
Butler Students Tap Oracle Cloud to Make Responsible Financial Aid Choices University to Integrate Oracle Student Financial Planning to Match Students with their Best Financial Aid Options

Redwood Shores, Calif.—Apr 10, 2019

Student debt continues to be a massive issue for American students who collectively owe an estimated $1.5T in loans. Navigating cost and financial aid is a crucial step in a complex process toward student attainment of higher education. Butler University wants to increase student success through a more efficient process and sound fiscal decisions. Deploying Oracle Student Financial Planning, part of Oracle  Student Cloud, the university will be able to guide students towards more responsible borrowing and course-planning that will keep them on track towards their graduation goals.

Butler, a private university in Indianapolis, integrates the liberal arts with a professional education to provide the highest quality education. It fosters a stimulating intellectual community built upon interactive dialogue and inquiry among students, faculty and staff.

With cloud technology providing real-time synchronization with government systems and automated, student-centric processes, Oracle Student Financial Planning will let Butler financial aid officers and administrators spend more time advising students on financial aid choices and less time packaging their aid. Direct integration with Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions will also enable the university to cut the costs of ongoing financial aid compliance. To date, Oracle Student Financial Planning has processed $2.9 billion in financial aid, representing 15 million automated packages.

“Cost should not be the gating factor in individuals getting the education they desire,” said Pete Williams, CIO at Butler University. “With Oracle Student Cloud, we will have the tools we need to improve student success by delivering a more transparent and effective financial aid experience.”

Oracle Student Financial Planning supports traditional and non-traditional academic models and drives institutional transparency, regulatory compliance, superior student visibility, and control of education financing options. With it, institutions can leverage advanced automated technologies to manage comprehensive fund management, calculate and repackage student financial aid based on pre-set triggers, optimize both private and public funding sources based on student financing requirements, reduce time and resources spent on supporting manual processes, and reduce the complexity of annual audits and compliance risk.

“Financial aid has been a frustrating and confusing process for many students, making it difficult to find options that best meets their qualifications and needs,” said Vivian Wong, GVP higher education development, Oracle. “With Oracle Financial Planning, we are enabling progressive universities such as Butler to match students with their best financial options, giving them the resources they need to focus on reaching their academic goals.”

Oracle Enables Utilities to Embrace a Customer-Centric Future

Tue, 2019-04-09 06:00
Press Release
Oracle Enables Utilities to Embrace a Customer-Centric Future New enhancements to CIS offerings empower utilities to improve operations while providing personalized insights to better engage customers

CS WEEK, Phoenix, Arizona—Apr 9, 2019

The utility industry is undergoing a massive evolution as utility customers are becoming more active consumers and producers. The explosion of data from a multitude of devices, including meters, IoT sensors, and smart home appliances, require utilities to rethink old business and billing models to meet the demands of this new utility economy.

As such, Oracle continues to enhance its leading customer solutions platform to deliver the tools water, gas, and energy utilities need to address this changing market dynamic. With a modern user interface, deep analytics, and built-in integrations with operational device data management and customer self-service capabilities, utilities can better engage customers at scale. For example, they will be able to tap user interface innovations to target customers for new programs based on personalized information on their utility usage. The new features are now available across Oracle’s customer solutions, including Customer to Meter and Customer Cloud Service (CCS).

“In this new utility economy, the customer is transitioning from a billable account to a participant in the utility business model. With changes in rates, regulations, and production, customers are looking for more information regarding their usage and bill and how they can lessen the impact of both,” said Hillary Martin, senior director, Oracle Utilities. “Antiquated customer systems simply don’t allow utilities the flexibility and intelligence they need in this changing market paradigm. With our continued updates, Oracle is bringing utilities to the leading edge of innovation.”

Driving Customer Innovation at Scale

Customer Cloud Service brings together Oracle Utilities’ market-leading customer information system (CIS) and advanced meter data management capabilities into a single meter-to-cash-to-customer solution on a shared database and technology stack. By bringing metering, customer account and revenue data into a common view, enriched by deep analytics and data visualization tools, utilities can drive greater business value from the increasing amounts of data and convert it into actionable business insights.

Built on the Oracle Cloud and delivered as the industry’s first fully supported Software as a Service (SaaS) solution, CCS features automated patching, upgrades, security, and standard SaaS services—freeing up valuable utility resources. With CCS, utilities gain a complete view of their customers and significant cost reductions compared to managing two separate systems.

With these new innovations, CCS and Customer to Meter utility customers can benefit from:

  • User Experience Enhancements: Guided by dozens of years working closely with customers on their CIS initiatives, a decade of Opower behavioral science research and design best practices, Oracle customer solutions feature a new, clean and modern interface and improvements to the ways end users interact with data, insights, content and context. With guided workflows and intuitive design, even brand new customer service representatives can deliver the same level of service as long-term call center experts.
  • Advanced Analytics: With the exponential growth in volumes and sources of data, utilities have an ever-expanding opportunity to derive value from that information to support better decisions across the business. With pre-built analytics embedded in both Oracle Utilities customer solutions, users can drive insight throughout the customer lifecycle. This allows utilities to visualize data clearly across systems and slice and dice to discover fresh insights that support customer engagement, revenue management, and more. With Oracle, utilities have the power of data science and machine learning at their fingertips, in pre-packaged solutions designed specifically for utility needs.
  • Operational Device Management: enables utilities to track meter and device inventory and monitor performance from within the same system capturing meter reads and customer accounts. This customer-device-data integration in a single solution not only reduces technology costs for utilities but also provides a more complete, “single source of truth” picture across an increasingly distributed network. This helps utilities move beyond the meter to leverage data across all relevant devices so they can explore and scale to new connected home services and more.
  • Digital Self Service: delivers a crucial component in providing modern customer experiences. By integrating Oracle Utilities Digital Self Service (DSS) and Oracle customer solutions, utilities can deliver superior service across channels and devices while driving down operating costs. In addition, based on a decade of user insights and design experience from Opower, Oracle DSS provides a strong web foundation to launch additional customer engagement programs.

“Utility distribution is no longer a linear equation where a customer uses a resource and then is billed for it. With the industry’s most connected, end-to-end customer platforms, Oracle is enabling utilities to become trusted advisors in this new journey while modernizing operations for an evolving customer-centric utility future,” added Martin.

Nonprofit Turns to NetSuite to Fight Childhood Hunger

Wed, 2019-04-03 11:10
Press Release
Nonprofit Turns to NetSuite to Fight Childhood Hunger MANA Nutrition Drives Efficiencies and Increases Visibility into Operations with NetSuite

SUITEWORLD 2019, LAS VEGAS, Nev.—Apr 3, 2019

MANA Nutrition, a nonprofit producer of ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF), is using Oracle NetSuite to support its mission to end severe acute malnutrition (SAM) across the globe. With NetSuite, MANA has been able to focus time and resources on the fight to end malnutrition by reducing manufacturing costs, increasing supply chain efficiency and gaining a single view into financial data across its growing organization.

Founded in 2009, MANA produces 425,000 lifesaving meals of RUTF per day to treat SAM (enough to feed and save 3,500 children in a six-week treatment program). According to UNICEF, SAM continues to result in the loss of 3 million young lives a year across the world and MANA has provided food to almost 3 million children to date. To extend its impact in reducing the cost of RUTF treatment across the market, and support its growth, MANA needed a unified business platform that could automate manufacturing processes, improve supply chain efficiency and increase visibility into financial data. To support these goals and enhance measurement and reporting to its benefactors, MANA selected NetSuite early in its development.

“Our mission is simple, we’re here to help end malnutrition for children around the world. We are on a never-ending quest to find a better way and are guided by the mindset of ‘if it’s good, let’s make it great,’” said Chris Whitfield, CFO, MANA Nutrition. “NetSuite has been great. It continues to give us ever increasing levels of visibility into our operations and enabled us to dramatically and consistently reduce costs by driving efficiencies across our organization. This has helped us demonstrate our impact to benefactors and allowed us to reallocate funds to create more food and save more lives.”

With NetSuite, MANA has been able to take advantage of accounting, inventory management, manufacturing and sales capabilities on a single platform to improve the efficiency of its manufacturing process and increase the quality of its products. In addition, the powerful analytics and financial management capabilities with NetSuite have helped MANA automate financial reporting, gauge how its performing against budgeted standards and milestones, improve investor relations by increasing transparency into financials and pass stringent audits by international aid organizations.

“Child malnutrition can stunt a child for a lifetime, and MANA is making a huge impact through its own work and its broader impact on the industry,” said David Geilhufe, senior director and social impact leader, Oracle NetSuite. “We’re incredibly proud to work with organizations like MANA which are creating social impact every day. By giving them the technology and support to help expand their mission, we are enabling them to grow and play a small part in making the world a better place.”

NetSuite supports more than 1,300 nonprofits and social enterprises globally. MANA is currently benefitting from Suite Pro Bono as part of the NetSuite Social Impact program, which provides nonprofit and social enterprises with coaching and support from NetSuite employees. MANA was also able to utilize the discounted licensing the NetSuite Social Impact program provides to nonprofits, which has helped MANA lower the prices of RUTF for its international aid customers.

MANA is also participating in the Hackathon 4Good event happening at SuiteWorld where NetSuite developers, partners and customers give their day to help NetSuite nonprofit customers address a complex challenge they are facing.

Press Release
Pet Food Delivery Pioneer Grows 50 Percent Year-On-Year with NetSuite NetSuite Helps PetShop.co.uk Enter Five New Countries and Scale the First UK Pet Food Subscription Service

SUITEWORLD 2019, LAS VEGAS, Nev.—Apr 3, 2019

PetShop.co.uk, the subscription-based pet supply store, has grown from a family-run business to one of the largest online pet shops in the UK with NetSuite. With NetSuite, PetShop.co.uk has been able to scale its critical business systems as it has rapidly grown in the UK, diversifying its services to include new subscription-based models and expanding internationally into France, Germany, Spain, Portugal and the Nordic region.

Started by Adam Taylor and his now-wife Lexi Taylor in their London home in 2009, PetShop.co.uk comprises an online store as well as the first ever subscription pet food service, Bottomless Bowl. As it has grown by 50 percent each year to become a company that now stocks over half a million pounds’ worth of merchandise and a range of over 10,000 products, PetShop.co.uk has used NetSuite to manage its business and minimize complexity. To build on its success and backed by the recent award of a £400,000 Productivity Grant from the UK Government, PetShop.co.uk has plans for further expansion, including an increased focus on its subscription business and international customer base.

“In 2010, as we started to scale, we set out to find business software that would support our entrepreneurial spirit and allow us to focus on our growth,” said Adam Taylor, CEO, PetShop.co.uk. “As we have grown, NetSuite has always helped us punch above our weight and stay true to our promise of saving customers’ time when buying pet food and supplies. What I really like though is that NetSuite frees up enough of my time so that I can still personally write all of our customer communications. Being able to focus on delivering such a personal service is so important to us.”

NetSuite has enabled PetShop.co.uk to increase efficiencies and control across financial, supply chain and marketing operations by eliminating manual and time-consuming processes and providing a real-time, consolidated view into key business data. By streamlining order management, invoicing and supply chain operations, NetSuite is helping PetShop.co.uk tap into the rising demand for subscription-based services, a market expected to be worth £1 billion by 2022. In addition, NetSuite’s marketing platform, Bronto, has helped PetShop.co.uk personalize the customer experience and achieve retention rates of up to 80 percent, while NetSuite’s OneWorld functionality enables seamless currency calculations and foreign language translations direct from the platform.

“Like many of our high-growth customers, PetShop.co.uk has achieved remarkable success by offering a new customer experience in a traditional market,” said Nicky Tozer, VP of EMEA, Oracle NetSuite. “We have provided a business platform that can scale with it, giving the company real-time visibility and control even as it expands across international markets. By implementing NetSuite, PetShop.co.uk has been able to react quickly to new business opportunities, while maintaining the personal aspect of customer service for which it has become known.”

Press Release
American Cancer Society Expands its Mission for a Cancer-Free World NetSuite helps nonprofit support rapid growth as it fights cancer on all fronts to save and celebrate lives

SUITEWORLD 2019, LAS VEGAS, Nev.—Apr 2, 2019

The American Cancer Society, a global leader in the fight against cancer, recently launched NetSuite to run its core financial processes so it can focus valuable time and resources on its mission to free the world of cancer. With NetSuite, the American Cancer Society is looking to take advantage of an integrated business platform to support its growth and streamline the management of multiple programs and fundraising efforts across its 900 U.S. offices.

Founded in 1913 by 10 doctors and five laypeople in New York City, the American Cancer Society has grown into a nationwide, community-based health organization with 1.5 million volunteers and now attacks cancer from every angle 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To support its network of volunteers, multiple fundraising efforts, and expanding range of programs, which include everything from critical research and education/awareness campaigns to emotional support and the fight for lifesaving policy changes, the American Cancer Society selected NetSuite to replace its aging and fragmented infrastructure with a single, scalable business platform.

“This year alone there will be an estimated 1,762,450 new cancer cases diagnosed and 606,880 cancer deaths in the U.S.,” said Rob King, CFO, the American Cancer Society. “As we look to grow our impact, NetSuite will support the management of our core financial operations so we are able to focus on helping people get well and stay well, finding cures and fighting back against the disease.”

The American Cancer Society will use NetSuite across its growing network of programs, volunteers and fundraising efforts. NetSuite will also help with the management and tracking of donations and goals. To help support the mission of the organization, NetSuite will host a pledge wall at SuiteWorld19 where attendees can write down their lifestyle promise in the fight against cancer. Attendees are encouraged to share their pledge on social media using the hashtags #AttackingCancer and #SuiteWorld19. For 2,000 pledges, NetSuite will donate $10,000 to the American Cancer Society.

“The American Cancer Society has led the fight against cancer for more than 100 years and the results it has achieved are nothing short of amazing,” said Evan Goldberg, EVP, Oracle NetSuite. “We are always excited when we can help nonprofits focus their time and resources on making the world a better place and are proud to be helping the American Cancer Society manage its growing network of programs, volunteers and fundraising efforts.”

Groundbreaking Comedy Club Puts NetSuite Center Stage NetSuite Helps The Second City Continue Its Comedy Revolution with the Launch of New Services

SUITEWORLD 2019, LAS VEGAS, Nev.—Apr 2, 2019

Groundbreaking comedy theater and improvisation club The Second City is using Oracle NetSuite to bring the power of comedy to the world. With NetSuite, The Second City has been able to take advantage of an integrated business platform to support its rapid growth and the addition of new comedy and improvisation services, which include new theaters, program offerings and an expanded training center.

Since opening its doors in 1959, The Second City has grown from a small cabaret theater in Chicago to become one of the most influential and prolific comedy empires in the world, fostering superstars including Jason Sudeikis, Steve Carell, Tina Fey and Stephen Colbert. To continue its comedy revolution, The Second City has launched a number of new initiatives including Second City Works, the B2B arm which uses the same methods to create professional development, content, and events that drive personal growth and organizational improvement. NetSuite has helped The Second City manage its expanding list of services as it brings comedy and improvisation to nearly 1 million people a year worldwide.

“People are drawn to The Second City because of our open-mindedness and passion for keeping the art of comedy alive,” said David Quinn, CFO, The Second City. “The core of what we do is improvisation and to ensure we can always focus on our art, we wanted a business platform that would allow us to grow without adding complexity to our business and NetSuite has been a perfect fit. The insights we get from NetSuite have helped us make better business decisions as we diversify our business and open our doors to more customers.”

With NetSuite, The Second City has been able to achieve a more real-time, consolidated view into its core business processes by consolidating previously disparate systems that were managing its multiple revenue streams and three offices in Chicago, Los Angeles and Toronto. NetSuite has also helped The Second City increase efficiencies and rapidly expand its range of services by eliminating previously manual and time-consuming tasks. This has enabled The Second City to focus on making the world a funnier place as it opens several new facilities to accommodate growing interest, including The Second City Training Center expansion, the Harold Ramis Film School, the first ever film school dedicated to comedy, and a full-service bar and restaurant.

“The Second City has fostered generations of superstars and continues to find new ways to innovate in the comedy and improv community,” said Evan Goldberg, EVP, Oracle NetSuite. “Its business is a great example of how you can carve out an entirely new approach and then grow that idea into a global empire by adding new services. With NetSuite, The Second City can focus on what will continue to get more artists and audience members in the door while we help ensure its business runs smoothly.”

TWINSET Curates a Sophisticated Customer Experience with Oracle Retail

Wed, 2019-03-27 11:00
Press Release
TWINSET Curates a Sophisticated Customer Experience with Oracle Retail Italian Clothing Brand Modernizes Point of Service to Increase Storefronts and Better Engage Customers

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. and MILAN, Italy—Mar 27, 2019

TWINSET curates a unique assortment of women’s ready-to-wear fashion, shoes and accessories sold online and across renowned Italian, European and Russian cities. As the company continued to grow, they knew maintaining harmony between delivering high-quality clothing and excellent customer service was essential. With Oracle Retail’s modern point of service (POS) technology, TWINSET can open more boutiques and corner stores that meet international requirements, while delighting sophisticated shoppers with associates that are informed and ready to help.

“We want our consumers, the brand and our associates to be in harmony when they enter the store. By putting intuitive and modern technology at our associates’ fingertips, they can focus on the customer and delivering a seamless omnichannel experience,” said Federico Tamburini, IT and logistic director, TWINSET. “Oracle also enables us to quickly roll out new boutiques by leveraging the international and localization capabilities inherent in the solution.”

In the recent Topography of Retail Report, nearly 6,400 European consumers surveyed prioritized knowledgeable in-store staff (73 percent) as one of the most compelling attributes of a shopping experience. Oracle Retail Xstore Point-of-Service will empower TWINSET associates to deliver on the brand commitment in store with inventory visibility, customer intelligence, and seamless transactions.

For example, from a tablet, an associate will be able to easily pull up a customer’s recent transactions to get a sense of their style and make suggestions on new merchandise or easily order an out-of-stock item from the website and have it shipped directly to the customer with no hassle.

“The in-store experience must go beyond transactions alone. Retailers, particularly fashion retailers, must dazzle their customers at the point of interest. By modernizing in-store POS technology, brands such as TWINSET are putting consumer intelligence in the associates’ hands, allowing them to personalize the interaction and build trust between the brand and the individual,” said Mike Webster, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Retail.

Oracle Blockchain Platform Now Available as Part of Everledger’s Provenance Tracking Solution

Tue, 2019-03-26 07:15
Press Release
Oracle Blockchain Platform Now Available as Part of Everledger’s Provenance Tracking Solution New capabilities deemed critical by Everledger for customers to get the most out of blockchain and their existing business and IT systems

Oracle OpenWorld Singapore, Singapore—Mar 26, 2019

Oracle’s enterprise-grade blockchain platform is now available as part of Everledger’s blockchain-based solution following a rigorous development and scale evaluation process. As part of this, Everledger, a global emerging technology enterprise leading the way in real-world applications of blockchain, assessed Oracle’s blockchain offering for its ability to provide extended product capabilities to support enhanced customer solutions.

In particular, the alignment will give Everledger users the ability to shadow blockchain transactions into a relational database, making it easier to run analytics on them. This will enable improved decision making, for example, being better able to determine how long it takes to transport gemstones from mine to the wholesaler and the retailer.

A pioneer in digital provenance tracking, Everledger’s blockchain-based platform is trusted by many industries including diamonds, coloured gemstones, fine wine and art. The ability to transparently track the provenance and lifetime journey of assets as they move across global supply chains, is especially critical for high value goods. These industries are susceptible to increased potential for theft, fraud and counterfeit—in the diamond industry alone, fraud events cost the insurance industry millions of dollars a year.

Leanne Kemp, Founder & CEO Everledger says, “With an increasing consumer consciousness and a vocal demand for transparency, our work is focused on engaging entire business ecosystems to provide consumers the ability to make fully informed purchasing decisions. It is thus key for us to enable the ease of systems interaction and provide value add to our customers.

“The inclusion of Oracle Blockchain Platform in our offering enables us to deploy more innovative products and solutions for our customers globally, in particular with improved time to market for business intelligence reporting solutions. Oracle’s comprehensive enterprise-grade offering will open our customers to realising more from our blockchain-based platform and crystalise value from the data in their own systems.”

Key Elements

Some of the new capabilities of Oracle Blockchain Platform are deemed critical by Everledger in the integration of its blockchain-based platform with customers’ existing business and IT systems. As blockchain becomes an important data store in the enterprise, the Oracle Blockchain Platform enables users to capture blockchain transaction history and current state data for analytics as well as integrate it with other data sources.

“Our longstanding goal has been to help customers to manage, protect, analyze and use the world’s data for the benefit of all. Being able to work with innovative companies like Everledger is an amazing opportunity. We look forward to helping both the company itself further its innovations in tracking and tracing the authenticity of some of the world’s most precious items, but also helping those in the ecosystem link key data sources for wider benefit,” said Frank Xiong, group vice president, Blockchain Product Development, Oracle.

The key elements of note include:

  • Database access – Data is an integral part of blockchain. With much of the world’s data resident in Oracle systems, the use of Oracle Blockchain Platform to seamlessly link to those repositories will enable these same customers to leverage both their existing data stores and data on the Everledger blockchain.
  • Analytics – Oracle Blockchain Platform’s ability to connect to the rich histories stored in an organisation’s existing database means that Everledger can seamlessly enable analytics integration for highly visual interactive dashboards and reports.
  • Monitoring of network health, transaction rates, and other statistics, and other elements of blockchain administration/configuration, are made easier by enhanced REST APIs, which also simplify integration with existing enterprise IT tools.
  • Out of the box plug and play capabilities from the Oracle Blockchain Platform makes it not only easy for Everledger to get off the ground, but will also easier for deployment.
  • Developer tools – Additionally, the query tools for Oracle Blockchain Platform link into things like smart contract support standard SQL-based ledger queries, enabling organisations to leverage the skill sets their developers already have, thereby reducing the complexity of developing chaincode and boosting performance.
